SUBJECT: Career Development Award

The Hitchcock Foundation is now accepting applications for The Hitchcock Foundation Scholars Program Career Development Award. The purpose of the Scholars Program is to increase the pool of extramurally funded, clinically oriented researchers at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center or Dartmouth College. The Program offers three years of career development support to promising young investigators committed to clinically oriented research and who are members of academic departments committed to their career. Clear evidence of commitment from the department where the applicant holds his or her main appointment must be demonstrated by matching support. The involvement of an enthusiastic mentor is expected. Applicants must hold a terminal degree appropriate to their discipline and may not have progressed beyond the rank of Assistant Professor.

The Hitchcock Foundation will provide up to a total of $300,000 over a three-year period toward salary. An additional $25,000 per year is available for operational expenses including (a) tuition, fees, and books related to career development; (b) research expenses, such as data purchases, computer time, equipment and other supplies; (c) travel to research meetings or training (no more than $2,000 total); and/or (d) support of research assistants, technical personnel, and statistical services, (e) expendable supplies. There are no indirect costs associated with this award.

The candidate's department must match fifty percent of The Hitchcock Foundation's support for the Scholar's research-related salary. Successful applicants must devote a minimum of fifty percent FTE to research and research training.

Applications for the Award beginning July 1, 2012, must be submitted to the Hitchcock Foundation office by 5:00 PM, December 15, 2011. Late applications will not be accepted.
