Project: Integrating Artificial Intelligence and Computed Tomography Imaging to Define Biologic Phenotypes and Risk Profiles in Peripheral Artery Disease
Jocelyn Beach, MD MS is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and a practicing vascular surgeon at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with a focus on peripheral artery disease (PAD) and limb preservation. Her clinical practice emphasizes multidisciplinary, patient-centered care for medically and anatomically complex patients, integrating medical therapy with endovascular and open surgical approaches. Her research centers on understanding PAD pathophysiology, using histopathologic and proteomic approaches, with the goal of integrating molecular, pathologic, and imaging data to inform more personalized treatment strategies. Dr. Beach completed her undergraduate training in biological engineering at Cornell University and her medical education and vascular surgical training at the Cleveland Clinic.

Project: Development and Delivery of a Bioelectronic Device for Treating Opioid-Induced Bowel Dysmotility
Dr. Alexander Boys is a materials scientist and biomedical engineer, working on bioelectronic systems and neural interfaces. Dr. Boys received his BS from Lehigh University, studying Materials Science & Engineering. Afterwards, he matriculated at Cornell University, where he received his PhD, also in Materials Science & Engineering, through an NIH F31 Fellowship working under the guidance of Drs. Lara Estroff & Lawrence Bonassar. After completing his postdoctoral work, Dr. Boys began the Regenerative Bioelectronics Lab at Dartmouth College, where his group studies the construction of novel bioelectronic devices for creating seamless interfaces with the body.

Project: Describing and Measuring Palliative Care Decision-Making Support for Hospitalized Patients
Meredith MacMartin, MD MS FAAHPM is a palliative care physician and researcher in the Department of Medicine and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice (TDI). She is a native of New Hampshire, and returned to NH in 2007 for residency training in internal medicine at DHMC, where she also completed her hospice and palliative medicine fellowship. She has served as the director of the inpatient palliative care consultation service, and as the medical director for the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care. Her areas of research include palliative care decision-making support interventions, measuring and improving patient experience, and interprofessional team dynamics.

Project: Enhancing Hearing and Brain Health: Detecting and Understanding the Interplay of Hearing Loss and Cognitive Function in Primary Care
Dr. Niemczak is a Senior Scientist at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Assistant Professor Geisel School of Medicine. He graduated from Syracuse University with his clinical doctorate in Audiology and PhD in auditory neuroscience in the cortical processing of speech perception in background noise. Dr. Niemczak is an early career researcher with the goal of developing an independent and externally funded research program focused on exploring auditory pathways to understand and assess the brain clinically relevant populations, such as those with hearing loss, HIV, Alzheimer’s Disease, and COVID-19.
