Support for Research Teams Using DH REDCap
Our SYNERGY Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and our Office of Research Operations (ORO), Research Informatics partner to help researchers use REDCap to collect data for their study or project. All of these services are presently no cost to researchers. This entails:
- Providing DH REDCap accounts to teams conducting research at or with DH. (Outside collaborators must be sponsored by the study PI).
- REDCap Training for study team members who will design instruments and/or enter data into REDCap.
- Referral to Biostatisticians for research design consultations, and for clients wanting to use Longitudinal designs and/or Randomization, among others.
- Technical support and guidance for customers as they design, test and prepare projects for live data entry in REDCap.
- Supporting our REDCap clients through their project lifecycle, including help with data downloads, data backup, archiving and closing out projects (Vanderbilt SOP for archiving projects)
Focus on DH Research
- Support for software that collects and safely stores research data is a main part of the mission of SYNERGY and DH Office of Research Operations (ORO)
- REDCap database software is designed for collecting research data.
- At DH, REDCap support focuses first on helping study teams collect research data.
- REDCap Support and availability for uses other than collecting research data, such as quality improvement or operational support, is based on capacity.
Project Team Responsibilities
- In DH REDCap, study teams build and manage their own projects, getting help and guidance from REDCap Administrators to answer questions, get expert tips and advice, solve technical issues, and access learning resources.
- Self-sufficiency is part of REDCap through the inclusion of video tutorials, a searchable FAQ, and extensive feature documentation.
- At DH REDCap, we have developed resources to support customer self-reliance and self-directed learning, including instructional materials, supplemental documentation to address gaps in the documentation in the software, and written guidance to share best practices in REDCap design from beginning to end of the lifecycle.
